Ancona Province and Marche Region: sea, hills and mountains
There are several viewpoints in Camerano where one can see the sea and Mount Conero in a suggestive play of contrasting blues and emerald green. Numana, Marcelli, Sirolo and Porto Recanati along the Conero Riviera are all just a few minutes away from Camerano and offer tourists clean beaches and accommodations for the perfect holiday.
Sirolo known as the Adriatic Terrace rises high over the sea and with its beautiful beaches, bays, reefs and creeks is in the heart of the Conero Nature Park. It beautifully restored historical centre has the atmosphere of times gone by. The square is the fashionable and social centre of the town where people meet for evening aperitifs in a panoramic gathering place on the sea before enjoying a delicious dinner made by the qualified Chefs of Sirolo or an evening at the fine Cortesi Theatre.
Numana is in the South of the Conero. Its historical centre which was once an ancient fishermen’s village perches high on the hillside jutting out over the bays of Upper Numana. Facing each other in the South are the modern and lively seaside tourist resorts of Lower Numana and Marcelli with their wide and well equipped beaches.
Porto Recanati is an attractive locality which is a several times winner of the "European Blue Flag" Award. In the incomparable setting of Mount Conero it is the ideal choice for those who wish to relax: the beaches are peaceful and above all family orientated; the bathing establishments are equipped with playing grounds for children, restaurants and sea sports facilities; the beach front is open only to pedestrians and is ideal for walks while children can play in complete safety; the cycling tracks provide beautiful rides through the countryside; Porto Recanti also has many discotheques and places of entertainment along the coast where young people are sure to enjoy themselves.
There are other places of interests at just are few minutes from Camerano. The Regional Capital Ancona is the centre of important traffic thanks to its port, Loreto is an important destination of religious tourism with its magnificent Cathedral perched on the hills; The alleys and viewpoints of Recanati bring to mind its most famous citizen Giacomo Leopardi whose home and library visitors can visit.
Castelfidardo which nestles in the valleys between the Aspio and Musone rivers is situated halfway between the mountains and the sea and is internationally known as the City of the Accordion thanks to its accordion manufacturing industries. Still today much of the work is done by skilled hands which give a touch of warmth and authenticity to the accordion industry.
Castelfidardo comes alive during the FIF, an internationally famous Festival held in October which offers events and cultural shows with other interesting events are organised the whole year round.
The Sibillini Mountains frame the horizon of Castelfidardo and it is there that visitors can enjoy trekking or mountain bike expeditions.
The atmosphere of Mediaeval times can still be enjoyed in the Castles and Fortresses scattered in the territory: Caldarola and Offagna are the most well known of these small towns. To get away from then summer heat visit Cingoli also known as the Terrace of Marche Region” for its breathtaking views for which it is so justly famous.
